LAKEWOOD, N.J., March 17, 2011 – Reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist Allen Morgan, MD, was one of 50 area physicians and health care professionals to volunteer for a recent medical mission sponsored by Aloha Medical Missions. Dr. Morgan, who is medical director of Shore In Vitro Fertilization in Lakewood and Colts Neck, and the rest of the medical-surgical team traveled to the remote, underserved community of Puerto Princessa, Palawan in the Philippine islands to provide much-needed surgeries to children, women, and men.
“The two-day voyage to this remote island was well worth the effort. Even though I am a fertility specialist, I used my training in gynecology to provide surgery to those women who otherwise would never get treatment since they are extremely poor. Some of these women had large tumors that eventually would have caused major health concerns if left untreated. The hospital was very poorly equipped and had just the very basic of services,” said Dr. Morgan. “We are so lucky to have access to care in this country. Even the poorest here in the USA have the best of care. Most people don’t realize how lucky they are despite all the negativity we hear about the U.S. health care system.” About Shore Area IVF Laboratories
